The Sentinel

The Sentinel by Jimpy Designs is my first balisong design. After two years of prototyping and refining manufacturing logistics, the Sentinel has finally met my initial vision. I wanted to create a production balisong with custom level aesthetics, construction, and performance. Weighing in at about 4.6 oz, the Sentinel isn’t too heavy nor too light. From my many years of flipping (going on 11 years), I’ve always appreciated a balisong with a more neutral balance since it made every trick possible. The Sentinel doesn’t necessarily perform best at tricks X, Y, and Z. I find that it does everything you want it to whether that be rollovers, fans, aerials, chaplains, ladders, etc. I wanted the design to be as low maintenance as possible. The Sentinel rocks a 440c heat treated stainless steel blade and 6AL-4V titanium channel handles. With the handles being channel construction, there are only two screws on the entire knife to worry about. Because the Sentinel runs on hand tuned bushings and fitted phosphor bronze washers, these screws need very little adjustment at all! The only real maintenance it will need is lube in the pivots and a cleaning once in a while (as long as you don’t beat it too hard of course). It is also important to note that the handles feature a widened channel which helps combat blade rub from forming on your blade. Overall, the Sentinel is ideal for any balisong enthusiast, collector, flipper, or combination of the three. I hope those who get their hands on one enjoy them as much as I enjoyed the journey of creating them!

Specifications:

Blade Material: 440c Stainless Steel

Handle Material: 6AL-4V titanium

Weight: ~4.6oz

Handle Length: 5.5”

OAL (Tip to Base of Handle): ~10”

Pivot Style: Hand tuned bushings & fitted washers

Each order includes:

  • One Sentinel

  • Stickers

  • One Carrying Case

  • One Stress Ball

  • One Certificate of Authenticity/Detail Card

Difference Between Grade A & Grade B Sentinels:

  • Grade A Sentinels feature a top tier tune (no tap/minimal to no play out of the box) and little to no blemishes. They are as close to perfect as possible. These are listed at full price.

  • Grade B Sentinels may feature a tune that isn’t quite perfect (and I mean perfect in the most literal sense), but still with no tap & minimal play straight out of the box. They may also show small but noticeable scratches/blemishes/inconsistencies on the blade, handles, or both. Overall, Grade B Sentinels still flip great, have a great tune, and have a very clean finish but are not able to be classified as near perfect like a Grade A Sentinel. The price reflects said deviations in quality.

PLEASE NOTE:

Just like anything in life, nothing is truly perfect. This fact of life also applies to the Sentinel. Some may have minuscule blemishes or abnormalities even after careful inspection and hand finishing. Keep in mind, the Sentinel was designed to be flipped, used, and enjoyed. Once you start flipping it, it’s going to get dinged, dropped, smacked, and battle worn anyway. So don't fret if you find a tiny scratch or two; there will be plenty more where that came from!
