Cutr: Integral Titanium Utility Blade Holder
I've seen a ton of keychain utility blade holder designs over the past few years. I like the idea of having a knife that I can abuse without having to worry about destroying the edge, breaking off the tip, etc. However, I wasn't completely sold on the designs I've seen in the wild for one reason or another. I wanted to design my own utility blade holder that is minimalist, strong, versatile, and felt more like a pocket knife rather than a keychain accessory. This is what I came up with.
The Cutr is a slim, light-weight, and versatile utility blade holder. Got an expensive primary EDC knife you don’t want to ruin? The Cutr is the perfect side kick for your main EDC. It’s also great as a stand alone carry knife when you want something sleek and low-maintainence. Machined from one solid piece of Grade 5 titanium, the Cutr is durable and highly corrosion resistant. The Cutr utilizes a compliant locking mechanism, meaning the utility blade locks both open and closed solely through the clever design and machining of the single-piece handle. Aside from the obvious applications for a utility knife, the Cutr features a built-in line cutter which is fully functional even while the blade is retracted. The Cutr accepts standard sized + extra long utility blades in a variety of materials and finishes. It features a build in rope cutter that is accessible without the blade needing to be deployed. Blades are super easy to swap out as seen in the video. Can be deployed and retracted using one hand super easily. The holder is machined from one piece of titanium. The mechanism is simple and strong.Every Cutr is laser engraved with a unique serial number to give each one a bit of character.
